Blue Barn

This light blue barn looked so attractive in the sunny winter landscape. It's the only light blue barn that I am aware of in our area. The barns are usually natural weathered wood or red or brown. In the distance , you can see the rolling hills of the Laurentian mountains.

It was late in the afternoon when I took this shot of a little school that, up to about 10 years ago, was a functioning one-room schoolhouse for kindergarten to grade six. The add-on on the left was built about a decade ago so it became a two-room schoolhouse. It services the few English family in this western part of Quebec and is officially part of a Montreal school board. We expected it to be closed years ago and were surprised when they put the little addition on. It is not located in a village, just at a cross-roads. I guess some people really wanted to keep it and did some very active lobbying for it to remain open when all the other one-room schoolhouses were closed decades ago.

  1. How many shades of blue are there in those photographs! They are lovely. I also like the cheery red doors on the school buildings.
